Canon imageFORMULA DR-6030C falls in a wide range of professional scanners of the company, replacing the DR-5010C. As the outgoing model, whose IT management mechanism paper shares, the DR-6030C is a sheet scanner production of small volumes. E ‘designed for anything up to 10,000 scans a day and can get through 60 A4 pages per minute, scanning both on top or bottom, or both in one step.

While it is compact, being smaller than most consumer-level, monochrome laser printers desktop, the DR-6030C can accommodate A3 originals. That gives the transport of paper the width of handling even A4 paper in landscape orientation, increasing its A4 maximum rate of scanning of 80 ppm. This is not his only trick; throwing down a rear panel opens a straight paper path, which Canon says it’s good for the media up to 546gsm weight.

Although squats, the DR-6030C is considerably heavy thanks to the robust plastics materials, all of which are screwed down on a metal base. Its creation involves the removal innumerable pieces of orange tape, but it is still quick and easy. Everything looks incredibly well put together, with the exception of so-called leadership of the document for expulsion, a tip slot plastic designed to reinforce the output tray. We found it all too easy to beat the tray upwards, releasing the spike which then needs to be repaired.

With input capacity of 100 sheets, the DR-6030C is designed with batch scanning attended in mind, and as such there are USB and SCSI interfaces for connection to the workstation, but not the network port. Canon does not give recommended minimum specifications for the host PC but our tests suggest that it does not need to be anything special to work every day. That said, there are many image processing features in the driver as the text orientation recognition. Turning them adds significant processor overhead, so if you want to use these features we would opt for a computer with a modern multi-core processor to keep things moving smoothly.
