Canon PIXMA G7060 Driver & Review– The Canon Pixma G7060 MegaTank is part of the small office/home office (SOHO) refill ink tank series. The focus is therefore on the lowest possible ink cost per page compared to traditional cartridge-based inkjets.Four separate ink bottles (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) can print up to 6000 mono pages and 7700 colors – based on lab tests of course. But hey, who’s counting when a set of ink costs $104.96 – that’s less than a penny per color or mono page!

Now we turn to the total cost of ownership. It costs $679 with four bottles of ink. Compared to cheap inkjet cartridges, you can save between 10 and 20 cents per page. Do the math, and after 3000-4000 sheets you are ahead. Cheap printers may not even last that long.

So, the use case is for a person or business that might print up to a ream of paper each month. And we must not forget that this is a multi-function printer (MFP) – print, scan, copy, and fax built for SOHO use.

What is Canon Pixma Endurance G7060?
Refillable ink tank, SOHO grade, MFP. That means the build quality is a bit tougher than consumer printers. That also means it only comes in a boring black color.

Canon PIXMA G7060 Setup

This one requires you to go to Canon’s website and type in the model number. It then downloads drivers (Windows, Android, macOS, iOS) and guides you through installing the printer. Connection is via Wi-Fi (2.4Ghz), Ethernet, or older USB-B models.

You can access all settings via 2 line screen (not easy) or apps and drivers (easy).

Speed

I mentioned the print speed from the lab! And Canon, like other printer makers, quotes it.

Canon quotes mono/color as 13/6.8 ipm (inches per minute and an A4 sheet are about 11.6″). It also doesn’t take into account auto duplex (which you can turn off) which effectively takes twice as long.

We did a test print of 10 single-sided sheets and then 10 duplexes (20 prints). Forgot time to print (about 7 seconds)

• Single mono –9 minutes or 54 seconds for each page
• Mono duplex – 20 minutes or 120 seconds for every twofold sided page
• Single color – 15 minutes or 90 seconds per page
• Color duplex – 36 minutes or 207 seconds per two-sided page
• A 6×4 borderless color print (in photo mode) takes less than a minute.

A4 without a frame takes longer.

Warning: The mono test is a color sheet with fair proportions of image versus text with the driver switching to grayscale. We tested a text-only sheet, and it was reduced to 45/60 seconds.

That’s pretty close to Canon’s stated numbers.

Canon PIXMA G7060 Ink Tank

The tank holds enough (in theory) to print a 6000 (pigment) mono or 7700 (dye) color combo. But the initial setup sucks a lot of ink to fill in the lines and settings. This is one of those printers that you should keep active.

Tanks are easy to fill and color-coded. You can partially fill or fill the tank as well. And the driver will also tell you the approximate remaining pages.

Paper feed

• 250 sheet 65gsm (200 x 80gsm) paper tray but we recommend underfilling. Tray accepts 64-105gsm. paper
• Output tray – 50 sheets (this is annoying if you do a lot of printing)
• Manual feed up to 300gsm (one to 80 sheets depending on weight)

Automatic Duplex Printing only works from trays with plain paper settings.

Applications and cloud print

PIXMA Cloud Link remembers Instagram and SlideShare for expansion to existing cloud administrations like Facebook, Dropbox, and Google Drive.

Upholds Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Windows 10 Mobile Print, and Mopria Print Service (Android).

Maintenance

You can start printhead alignment or deep cleaning/cleaning, etc. through the app or screen.

There are some specific instructions for moving the printer. You have to put it in transport mode and turn off the ink lever. Transport flat and in the plastic bag provided in case of ink leak. Ink stains will be difficult to remove.
